Surrealism. This is the final project we did in Drawing I: A surrealism featuring creatures we created using two or more of five textures she gave us, which were fur, scales, feathers, bumps, and craters. I chose the first three and made the traylohs, an alien race with strange, changing halos of energy around their tailtips. I don't know very much about them, to be honest--I just cooked 'em up. However, with the scene in this picture--a battle scene--I feel like I wanna find more out about them. Like, how big are they? They obviously can get HYY-UGE, as the happy gunner in the upper left shows us. They have a propensity to be very fat, but only on the bottoms; their upper bodies are usually quite muscular. How did that smoke get in the air? War? I have a lot of questions about them. Like...why is their blood raspberry-colored? O_O;

Yeah, this was a total BITCH. And it ain't stoppin' there, either...it's refused to let me make a good composite. They must have turned a bit going in. It's really prolly just me, but hey. I worked really hard on this--lots of going home and coming back. Prismacolors and Pilot pen ink, NO BLENDER!! I had to use a shading technique of using the complimentary color underneath, and I'd say it worked at least moderately. I'm glad it got into the art show. Anyway, it's one of my favorites. Yeah. Oh, another note: I had to do perspective, which makes the mercenary guy in the upper left even BIGGER and the guy on the right's tail smaller that you'd think, since that part is closer so it looks bigger...ya. (Ugh. Ten minutes to midnight. Dunno what to say. I wanna say, but I don't wanna say...)

Also, trying a new size ratio with the scanned image. Instead of 1/4 of the big-ass scanned size, it's half, then 75% of that. Yeah.

Anyway, enjoy. I wanna try and re-scan this soon so that I can get a better composite.

Traylohs are (C) 2008-9 MOI.

I'm deciding to make this a print. Why? Because I WORKED MY TAIL OFF ON THIS, I actually can't see the composite flubs, and I think I did a pretty good job. I dunno who'd actually BUY it, but...who knows.
