Angry Kitty P1 FINAL

Description

Finished, thank God.

Technically, this is mixed media as I used markers, ink, and colored pencil, but I'm lazy and tired and am getting SO sick of seeing this page...Ugh...Well, here ya guys go, the first page of Angry Kitty, my first 100% original webcomic. ^_^

Okay, man, this was a pain in the ass to do, not to mention slow to get going in terms of the coloring phase. But now it's done, and in relative record time, too! Or maybe it's just because it's not dark out yet that I think that...*shrug* Oh, well. Okay, time to point some things out:

- You can see that the backgrounds are nearly all crappy, even for me. Unblended background against blended foreground? But then you see that the final panel's background is, in fact, blended. But there, it's a lot of unoutlined crap. Why? Well, I originally didn't HAVE something there apart from the bed. So, I basically just sketched stuff in. I remember seeing such sketchy backgrounds in other mangas, so I thought I could get away with it. Then I remembered I was coloring it all. XD;; So, yeah.
Anyway, I actually have a reason why I didn't blend all the backgrounds: Most of them are in a dream, as you can all see. Thus, they're kinda...not real. But then, when Lynn awakes to find a feline :P, everything is blended and more "real," in her cartoon world, that is. I DID blend the characters, though, because they really should be.

- In the eighth, ninth, and eleventh panels, the background gradually whitens. No, this is not me being lazy again--this, as well, is intentional. It represents the dream closing. Also, in panel 9, the characters are almost all white because I remember that some mangas and animes do this in "critical" scenes, where they go minimalist to add to the drama and make it stick out. I hope I did this well here.

- I left panel 10 black and white on purpose, again for drama. I also didn't wanna ruin it by blending it.

- The ugly smearing around the slurping sfx in panel 11 was accidental, but then deliberate. It adds to the whole grossness of getting slurped by a cat right on the lips in the morning, doesn't it? ^_^

- That's a bag under her eye right above that, btw.

- In many places, especially in the first panel, the india ink didn't completely bond to the paper, and resulted in lots of ink left over to smear into the color. I'm sorry. Whenever possible, though, I used this to my advantage.

- For instance, in the second and fifth panels, that's not colored pencil around the shadowy figures--that's the colorless blendah!! HAH!! FOILED, EVIL INDIA INK!! :mwahaha:

- I used some cool markers I have that, sadly, have the thickest tips on Earth, for the effects in panels 3 and 4, as well as the "C" and "!" in the fourth panel. The rest of the sfx are Verithins.

- It's hard to see the übese feline's tail in the seventh panel because of the colored pencil. I'm sorry, I wish I'd've known that'd happen, 'cuz then I'd go over that spot in Pilot pen before coloring--heck, the whole tail!

- For places that are left white but are still on the body, discounting eyes, I just blended without coloring it. Again, I foil the ill effect of the leftover ink by having it shade the spots on the white part perfectly!!

*** OPINION, PLEASE!! Which color's more copper, Mars' eyes or his tag, in the final panel? I need to decide which one to use for future copper objects.

Now, then, please enjoy AND COMMENT on this MPITA. I worked my tail off for it. *holds it up, frowning* And I love my tail!! A lot!! *It twitches feebly in paw* Now, then, enough of my blabbering. READ IT!! AND COMMENT!!

...Please!!

Just as I thought, this comic meets the high expectations I had from the cover. ^^ I don't think that the backgrounds are so bad; actually, the fact that the last one is blended so nicely is a subtle reinforcement to the fact that everything else is a dream. The black-and-white effect does add to the drama, too.

By the way, Mars looks just as good from the back as he does from the front. :D It's true that the tail doesn't stand out that much, but that's hardly important in the face of such a great-looking perspective. ^^ Lyn's expression in the next two panels is priceless, too. :XD:

As for your decision, I think that the eyes look more copper. The collar resembles a bronze penny to me, and I prefer the lighter tone - but that's just one man's opinion. ^^

Anyway, please keep up the great work! :D I know that it must've taken forever to get this done to such a level of detail, but even if it's a while, I would love to see another page. :+favlove:
